What is your process?

Without process...

We can't grow.

When I dip, duck and dive through various social channels and come across different thought leader profiles, I often am met with a series of very high-end, very polished, standard portraits of them looking directly into the camera.

These are extremely valuable image assets.

Now, although I love to see these types of magazine-quality portraits, my concern lies more in what I’m not seeing enough of on their feeds.

And this concern revolves around one question - what is your process?

What does work look like to you? How do you brainstorm your thought leadership? What does working with your clients look like? What’s does the behind-the-scenes of your life look like?

In order to endear yourselves more to your tribe and inspire them to know, like and trust you faster, demystifying how you operate by sharing candid, lifestyle portraits that reveal your work and life processes can do just that.

Candid portraits like these will visually punctuate the stories about your business, brand and life that you want to share with your followers in order for them to get to know you better.

And, once they get to know you better, the thought leadership that you share in your social content and blog/guest posts will resonate much more deeply with them.

So, before your next portrait session, think about your processes and how they could be visually captured in some candid lifestyle portraits.

  • How do you create your body of work?
  • How do you work? Mostly digitally? Or do you whip out the pen and paper, as well?
  • Do you work with your hands?
  • Are you client-facing, or, virtual?
  • What tool(s) are involved in your line of work?

These are just a few questions that I ask all my clients during our pre-session strategy call, and, they always get the ball rolling when brainstorming interesting, lifestyle portraits that reveal their specific processes, and give them the visual ammunition they need to punctuate their stories.
