[interview] how to be a persuasive visual storyteller w/ amber khan
Being persuasive doesn’t mean putting on a show.
you’re being persuasive simply by being yourself.
On several occasions, I’ve been asked by colleagues and potential clients what I mean by “persuasive” visual storytelling.
They feel that that word creates a negative and predatory connotation.
From my perspective, that’s not the case.
Can the art of persuasion be used in a predatory way? Sure - happens all day, every day.
But that doesn’t mean that’s the only way in which persuasion can be used, especially when it comes to the service of others, provided that you are honest with yourself and honest with your audience.
To help someone see how you can help them get past what’s holding them back is a win win all around…and it feels quite magical when the transformation in them has occurred, :)
This topic came up recently during my conversation with Amber Khan on her Impact 2.0 live show. We met on Linkedin, had a nice long chat on the phone, and decided that it would be a good idea to share our in the weeds conversation with her audience - sounded like a plan to me, :)
In addition to the topic of persuasion, some of the other topics we touched on include:
The real drawback to fake smiling
The importance of showing a variety of emotions throughout your image content
Why I chose to serve speakers, trainers and other expert business owners
The importance of being a specialist with a well-defined niche
