Here's another way your online content adds noise to social media

I totally forgot to add this “noisy” content creator...

And it’s one that many of us, including myself, have been guilty of in the past.

A couple days ago, I shared this article on 5 ways your content adds noise online.

After I hit the PUBLISH button, I immediately realized I forgot to include an important sixth one into the mix.

6 - The Over-Offerer

Have you ever come across an expert that pitches their services and products in every single piece of content that they create?

When you land on their profile and notice this, how does it make you feel?

Well for me, it’s an immediate dash for the EXIT door with little chance of returning.

Look, we’re in business to support the lives we want to live, there’s no denying that. We need to let our people know what it looks like to work with us and how we can help solve their problems.

But when you barrage your audience with non-stop reminders of the things they can buy from you to get this help, it feels like you only care to sell your shit…

...and not build a genuine relationship with those who need you most.

Think about it from your audience’s perspective; do you like the feeling of being sold to ever? I sure as hell don’t. And, I’d be hard-pressed to compile a list of 5 people who do.

As a result, if you create non-stop, sales-driven content that points people to a landing page with a BUY NOW button, you’re creating a very easy decision for the folks in your audience to completely tune you out…

...or unfollow you and be done with it.

Long story short, compliment your sales-driven content with value-driven content that nurtures your audience’s attention and builds a genuine interest on their end to learn more about you personally and how you can help them specifically.

You absolutely need to still create content that illustrates the products and services that facilitate their transformation, but lead with value first and often, with no expectation that this one blog, social post or Story will create a mad dash to your shopping cart.

Content creation is a long game, folks - it doesn’t reap benefits 5 minutes after it’s shared publicly. It takes time for people to trust you enough to pay you money to help.

Allow them to dip their toes into your world first - don’t put them in a sink or swim scenario from jump. They’ll simply avoid the water.
