What's your workflow look like?

What materials are important to your working process?

It's a question I pose in every pre-session strategy call because it helps me better understand how to capture authentic branding photos.

For some clients, it involves a fully digital ecosystem comprising a phone, tablet, laptop, video camera, and/or voice recorder.

But for others, like Alan Stein Jr, his process involves an analog approach.

Alan has carried his Nike basketball attaché with him for over a decade, jotting down ideas as they come to him wherever he goes.

Once he mentioned that during our call, I knew we needed to capture candid photos of him brainstorming with his attaché during his branding session. The goal was to give his audience a peek into his behind-the-scenes creative process.

These authentic moments reveal the depth of his work and reinforce his credibility as a speaker who talks about preparedness.

Capturing authentic visuals like these goes beyond just capturing unique imagery - it's about creating visual storytelling opportunities.

Alan's images are valuable assets, allowing him to use them in online content or other marketing areas to help his audience understand his behind-the-scenes workflow.

They visually punctuate his expertise, giving followers a unique peek into how the sausage is made.

For any professional, these kinds of authentic, candid lifestyle photos provide a versatile visual toolkit. Whether for blog posts, social media, newsletters, or marketing materials, they add a layer of his process that headshots and portraits can’t replicate.

It's all about showing the audience the reality of your process.

So, what tools and materials should be included in your next branding session?

Consider your unique workflow and how you can visually showcase it to give your audience a genuine look at how you operate.

That's the essence of capturing an impactful, relatable brand that inspires your audience to learn more about how you can help solve their problems.
