When following up leads to magic, :)
Once the branded lifestyle portrait session is over, that doesn’t mean the client relationship is over…
...in fact, it’s just getting started, :)
A couple months ago, I had just put the finishing touches on my Idea Nugget Incubator Program after being inspired - by that, I mean I was pissed - by a client who posted on social with an, ahem ahem, stock photo.
At that moment, I realized I needed to provide an additional solution to clients who felt overwhelmed and creatively paralyzed once the massive amount of portraits and other image content were delivered to them.
After all, we don’t shoot these images just so that they can sit on people’s desktops and collect dust - they are meant to be used everywhere online!
So, I created the Idea Nugget Incubator Program as a way to teach clients how to recognize and leverage moments, conversations, thoughts and insights from their lives and businesses to create authentic, valuable and powerful content that will resonate with their audiences by teaching them lessons through storytelling.
Once they have the stories in place, they then sift through their image content portfolio and choose an image that visually punctuates the sentiments of the stories they want to share.
Once I had the program in place, I offered it to my portrait clients first.
That’s when Chinwe raised her hand and signed up as the first person to go through the Idea Nugget Incubator.
Prior to her signup, I had photographed not only a branded portrait session with her, but, also attended one of her talks and took photos of her from the stage, so, I was well aware of the image assets she had at her disposal.
What I was also aware of was that she wasn’t posting very often, so, I was very happy to have her on board so we could fix that situation immediately.
The first step was for her to fill out the Idea Nugget Generator Workbook, which took her a couple days to wrap up in between living her very busy life in the corporate world and being a mommy.
Once it was locked in, we spent about 2 hours on a video call going over every single idea nugget that she wrote down in the workbook.
Although it was an extremely beneficial conversation with loads and loads of valuable information, we definitely we were both a little punch drunk after this one - as is illustrated in the photo above, :)
Regardless of how taxing the call was, Chinwe was DM’ing me on Facebook hours later talking about how a light switch went off in her mind and she was feverishly writing ideas down left and right for social and blog posts.
The floodgates opened for her, :)
I was psyched to see some of her work, and fortunately, she didn’t disappoint since she immediately started throwing them up on her Instagram page:
What I love most about these posts as a whole is that she truly has internalized the idea of leveraging photo content as a visual punctuation to each and every story she shares with her audience.
The photos she chose for each post isn’t haphazard.
She leveraged the sentiment of the photo based on the body language and facial expression to compliment the story that she wrote in the text on the image and in the caption.
Every time that I see her posts pop up on my feed, I can’t help but smile, because I know that getting to this point for her was quite a learning curve.
Here’s what Chinwe had to say about her experience:
John’s Idea Nugget Incubator Program has been truly transformative for me. As one who is relatively new to a number of social media platforms and previously found online engagement rather confounding,
John gave me a framework to authentically engage online and create endless social media content that connects with and serves my audience. I went from posting sporadically on social media to posting daily and visually punctuating those posts with exceptionally high quality images.
In my experience, John consistently delivers remarkable value. I am incredibly grateful for his talent, passion, and commitment. I look forward to leveraging his services for years to come.
I am incredibly grateful for her passion and talent, and I am excited to watch her develop her thought leadership as time marches on, :)
