Content sets you up for the long-game

Think your online content is going to immediately reap rewards from the effort?

Eh - not necessarily.

An essential piece of the initial conversation I have with clients revolves around managing expectations.

For some speakers, authors, consultants and other experts, they’re under the impression that a fresh round of photos will immediately translate to more stages, more clients, and more revenue.

That’s when I need to step in and share the reality of the situation.

Yes, integrating a premium level of photos across your online presence, from your website to your content, is an essential piece to the marketing puzzle in the short term.

These new photos help create a new visual foundation across every online touchpoint and creates a level of consistency throughout. All very important boxes to check.

But, in terms of generating revenue, this renovation reaps those types of rewards in the mid-to long-term game.

What do I mean?

When you’re an expert, you’re in the business of building relationships.

Over time, these relationships develop to the point that your clients trust that you can help solve their problem and they’re ready to invest financially in you to make it happen.

This moment could happen a month or two after they discover you. It also could be 3 years from now.

You can’t put a definitive timeline on their readiness to pull the trigger.

But you can continue to nurture this relationship by offering them valuable insights and inspiring images that motivate them to come back for more and engage over time.

Additionally, they’re also getting to know you on a human being level beyond the way you can help them through the stories you share. Always a good thing when building relationships, right?

As a result of this legwork, once the time comes for them to invest in themselves, who do you think they will turn to?

At the end of the day, being an expert business owner is a long-term game. The same applies to your image content.

If you show up consistently and offer premium content that resonates with those you serve, you’re planting seeds that will, ultimately, cultivate a larger following and more paying clients for the various products and services you offer over time.

But, just like every farmer on the planet, you gotta put the work in before it grows. The more effort you exert, the higher the yield.

If you’re an expert who’s looking to learn more about how storytelling can get more attention from those you serve, I share a ton of insights on it in my newsletter. Get all the good stuff by signing up, and it’ll save you the commute to my blog :)
