Actually, it was a Zoom call and no smoke was involved, but, I was trying to set a cool mood here, :)

It’s really interesting to find out who is following you online when you don’t know it.

One such person for me is photography mentor and coach, Don Giannati.

One day out of the blue, I got an email from him and he mentioned how he’d been checking out my stuff for quite a while, was very impressed with my offering to speakers, authors and coaches, and wanted to know if I’d like to have a chat with him about all things photography.

How can I say no to that, right? Besides, I never talk much outside of the closed photography community, Screw The Metadata, that I run with my partner, Maurice Jager, so I agreed.

After all, I do have a lot to say about this niche that I serve, :)

The unique angle on this conversation is that it’s photographer to photographer, which, yes, there is some gear head stuff in here, but really, it’s one of the few times that I’ve discussed my niche to another professional on camera, which is an interesting change of pace for you guys to check out.

Among the many topics that we covered, here are some of them:

  • How did this branded lifestyle portrait nice come about?

  • How I approach my portrait work with the mind of a television producer.

  • How I help prep clients to look confident in front of the camera.

  • How minimal photography gear helps maximize a branded lifestyle portrait session.

You can check out the conversation here.

Any interesting takeaways from this? Questions? Comments? Give me a shout and lemme know!

PS - For those of you who aren’t in the know, I mail out these blogs 3x a week, and lemme tell you, they’re a real party, so, if you’d like to get in on this, sign up for it here and I’ll throw in a free gift for you, because I care, :)
