Key to effective marketing? Relationship building...

Relationship building is the key to visibility.

It's also the key to being a good human, :)

Recently, I was listening to the Jordan Harbinger podcast and he was speaking with awesome and inspiring custom experience designer, Joey Coleman (here is the podcast episode).

Joey works with a lot of huge companies such as NASA, but, the conversation between him and Jordan deeply resonated with me and the work that I do with my thought leader clients.

Joey stressed the need to double down on establishing and committing to relationship building.

Rather than opt for the typical, scarcity mindset strategies to force a split second decision to buy, Joey preaches providing value over time in order to nurture authentic and life-long relationships with those that need you most.

As I was listening to this episode, I found myself nodding my head in agreement a lot because I am all in on relationship building through providing value.

Besides, I’ve tried scarcity tactics in the past, and quite frankly, I sucked at them.

Yes, I didn’t dive very deeply into that world, but, as I look back in retrospect, I now understand why - it’s because becoming a high-pressure salesman is not how I want to show up in the world, and, as a result, I never showed interest in learning the tricks of that trade.

I want to feel awesome about my interactions with those who seek my help to get past their hurdles, and, asking someone to act now before it’s too late isn’t going to put me in a good place.

By adopting an abundance mindset, that opened me up to sharing everything about my process and providing valuable insight to those who need to hear it most - free of charge!

And people will appreciate the information and reciprocate your effort in spades.

This is what I harp on constantly with my clients when it comes to their branded lifestyle portrait image content.  Don’t just post content to post content. Post informative and inspiring stories about your business, brand and life that will motivate people to be better than they were yesterday.

And, do it consistently to give your tribe something to look forward to on a daily basis.

With every post, you are establishing your expertise as well as developing a relationship building rapport with your followers, one that will eventually pay dividends when the time is right for them to pull the trigger on some individualized help.

When compared to the immediate pitch, it is a far much longer game to play, but as Jordan mentioned in his conversation with Joey, it creates a personal connection, and when you do that, your tribe will care more about you and want to reciprocate your efforts.

Now, I’m not sure about you, but, that’s the kinda world that I want to live in, let alone the type of business that I want to conduct,  :)

How do you approach relationship building with your tribe?

Please share in the comment section.

Are you curious to know how to further along that process with your image content?

I can help you out with that.
