Accidental Visual Assets...

Does this sounds familiar:

You present at a variety of live events - could be keynotes, trainings, masterminds, workshops, whatever.

You don’t hire a photographer for these events because, in most cases, the organizations in which you serve tell you that they already have someone to cover it, and will share with you whatever they capture.

Weeks after the event is over, you finally receive an email from that photographer with a small handful of photos taken while you were doing your thing.

While 8 out of 10 photos are completely unusable for one reason or another, there are 2 that kinda sorta maybe catch your eye.

Once you’ve identified the 2 photos you like, you share them throughout your online presence, and then, you rinse and repeat this process for every single event, year after year.

Here’s the problem with this approach to visual storytelling:

You’re collecting visual assets on ACCIDENT and not on PURPOSE.

When looking to position yourself as an authority in your space of expertise, grow your audience, and command premium rates for your effort, you need to be far more intentional about the way you present yourself visually to those you serve.

In order to achieve this, you not only need a VOLUME of high-quality photos showing your audience how the sausage is made, but it also needs to be delivered CONSISTENTLY to your inbox so that you can immediately share them to add to the storyline of your life and business shared on social.

When you rely on hoping and wishing that the house photographer who doesn’t know you or your business from a hole in the wall captured decent photos of you in front of the room, you’re leaving too much up to chance.

You need to have control over the way you’re captured in photos so that you’re telling the right visual story through your online presence.

Otherwise, it’s all a crapshoot.

And if you seek to create distinction from the other experts who share your space, that’s simply not going to work.

The next time you’re presenting, hire a photographer that knows you, your business model, and your image content needs.

When you’re intentional about it, magic will ensue.
