I'm starvin' over here...
During a recent conference I had the privilege of photographing, one of the unexpected but essential tasks was capturing images of the food and snacks provided at the event.
Now, photographing food might seem like an afterthought, especially when the primary focus is on presenters, sponsors, and those crucial moments that happen in the room. However, these images serve a greater purpose than just filling up the gallery.
Capturing photos of the food and snacks helps paint a fuller picture of the event experience.
The reality is, when attendees commit to being in a room for three days, every detail contributes to their overall experience—and the food is no exception.
By photographing everything from the plated meals to the buffet area and even the snacks during breaks, I aimed to highlight the attention and care that went into organizing the event.
But the value of these images extends far beyond merely documenting the event. They fill an important gap regarding their online visual storytelling efforts:
1. Online Content: Sharing these images on social media or the event's website can help build anticipation for future conferences. Potential attendees get a glimpse of what they can expect, adding a layer of comfort and trust.
2. Website Landing Pages: Use these images to enhance the landing pages for future event registrations. Visuals of appetizing meals and well-stocked snack tables can make the event more appealing, adding a touch of warmth and hospitality that resonates with potential attendees.
3. PDFs and Brochures: Including images of food in promotional materials helps to create a more comprehensive and inviting picture of the event. It shows that every aspect, down to the snacks, is thoughtfully planned.
So, the next time you're involved in organizing a conference or attending one, remember that every detail counts, and that includes the food. Capturing these seemingly mundane moments adds richness to the event's narrative and offers a variety of ways to engage attendees and sponsors alike.
