Your image assets are assets...USE THEM!
One of the greatest joys in my life is to take pictures for a living…
…an even GREATER joy is when the clients actually USE the pictures for their various marketing and promotional efforts!
Speaking of that…
I’ve been a photography sponsor for the NYC chapter of the National Speakers Association since 2018.
In that time, I’ve captured many meetings (in-person and virtually), special events, masterminds, and board member headshots.
I photograph the moments, share my favorites online, and then send them a pile of additional photos to use as they wish.
Over the past few months, I’ve noticed them using these images throughout their entire social presence to promote various chapter programs.
Full images with graphic overlays placed on them. Cut-outs of members placed on cool backgrounds. Carousel content that leverages multiple images.
They’re not simply sharing the original photos - there’s a purposeful strategy around using the images as the visual foundation, and then, building off them with design and branding elements to bring attention to what they’re looking to promote.
And, they look really cool, too :)
So why bring this up?
It’s a reminder for you to do the exact same thing with the photos you have of yourself sitting on your computer RIGHT NOW.
What teachable moments are you looking to share with those you serve?
What programs, services and products are you looking to promote to your audience?
What personal stories do you want to post about that paints a broader picture of who you are and why you do what you do?
Step 1 - Write the story.
Step 2 - Identify a compelling, high-quality photo that visually punctuates the emotional sentiment of the story. Either use the photo as is, or cut yourself out and include it in a more design-oriented background like the images above.
Step 3 - Add in the graphics and colorful visual elements that complement your brand.
Step 4 - Incorporate text, whether it’s a reference to your expertise or important information promoting something and tag with a CTA.
And boom! You have a compelling piece of content with an image that would otherwise collect dust on your computer, waiting desperately for it’s time to shine :)
