About first impressions...
When it comes to creating first impressions with your photos…
…the first person you need to impress is you.
One major issue that creeps up for many experts is that they hate getting their photos taken.
They are pretty ehhhhh about the whole process. And I get it - been there, done that myself.
The problem is not that they have apprehensions being in front of the camera - that can be worked around.
The problem is that this apprehension leads them down a path of apathy.
They hate the process, hate lugging bags to different locations, hate all the outfit changes, hate the way they look, and as a result, want to speed through the entire thing without taking into account the images that are being created.
Not a good way to invest in your business, folks.
If you’re looking to create an image portfolio that reinforces that you are an expert in your space, you need to feel good about how you’re represented in the images in the first place.
Why?
If you zipped your way through the session, and it produced ehhhhh photos, then you’re short-changing your audience into getting a deeper sense of who you are because you didn’t make the effort to give them a sense of the genuine article.
As a result, this potentially can lead to leaving a less-than-favorable first impression in the minds of those who are debating whether to hire you to help solve their problem.
So, what good does this detached approach from the process offer you in the end?
Well - aside from wasting your money on a photo session, that is?
This means that before you invest in a lifestyle portrait session, you need to get your head in the game, whether you like it or not :)
Understand that in order for you to create massive value from your investment in photos, you need to commit to creating photos that, ultimately, impress YOU first.
Regardless of whether or not you have a dislike for staring at pictures of your face, you ultimately need to be invested in creating images that you’d be proud to share everywhere with everyone.
And that, in turn, will attract those who resonate with the personality conveyed in your photos, which will then inspire them to learn more about how you can help them get past what’s holding them back.
It’s that simple.
