Remember that book you wrote a couple years ago?
Thinking of creative ways to captivate your audience’s attention with photos?
Remember that book you wrote a few years back? Start there.
The online space is noisy, we all know that.
A simple glance at any of your social feeds will validate that assessment in mere seconds.
Having said that, there are ways to inspire your audience to stop the scroll, click on your post, read the story and follow through on the call-to-action.
One way to achieve that is by offering compelling portraits that illustrate various aspects of your personality, expertise and how you solve people’s problems with your magical blend of transformation.
But, portraits are only a piece of the puzzle.
You have other options at your fingertips, and one of them is probably sitting on your bookshelf collecting dust as you read this.
I’m talking about your book.
Recently, I’ve worked with several authors to create image content of their books - cover shots, spine, pull quotes, illustrations, section headers and other details - in order to help with their pre-launch and launches for their upcoming titles.
But, these photos aren’t simply valuable image assets to help launch a new book - they have more legs than that.
They’re compelling and unique additions to your image content portfolio that can visually punctuate the sentiments of the stories you share with your audience.
How so?
Well, your book lays out the framework of your intellectual property and expertise. As a result, everything within those pages offer value to those you serve.
A photo of a pull quote, section header or chapter title is an opportunity for you to expand upon that thought in a story that shares immediate insights and value for those who need to hear it most.
And, the artistry behind the photo of the actual page is more eye catching than simply typing the word, phrase or quote onto a simple color background and posting that on your feed.
It’s “stop the scroll” value increases significantly because it feels and looks different from the typical pull-a-quote-from-the-book-and-type-it-out-onto-the-screen approach.
It allows your audience to feel the book in their hands through their eyes, which immediately offers an enhanced sensory experience when engaging the picture.
Does it matter that the book is several years old? Well, if the insights, frameworks and expertise poured into it is still relevant to the work you do today, then no, it doesn’t matter in the least.
At the end of the day, you’re in the business of building relationships with those you serve in order to earn the permission to help transform your client’s lives. But the only way you get to the good stuff is if you create distinction and stand out from other experts in your space.
Give yourself the opportunity to be visible to your audience by sharing image assets that separate you from the pack. And a great place to start is by leveraging what you already have on your bookshelf.
And hey, who knows - perhaps a photo from your book will reignite your sales in the process!
