Be true to your (online) school
Do you run an online training program?
Share with potential members how the sausage is made through photos.
Experts have myriad ways at their disposal to help solve the problems of those they serve.
Books, speeches, in person training, coaching, consulting…yadda, yadda, yadda - you know the deal.
Regardless of how you solve your people’s problems, it’s essential to have image content that shows you in the act of service.
When you show people how you serve, it not only adds credibility to the conversation because you’re caught in the act of doing the thing you say you do, but it also helps demystify the process for those considering you as the solution.
It helps them to visualize what it’s like to learn in your world, which helps advance them along their buying journey.
And that’s not just for your in person services and products.
This approach also extends to your online offerings, as well.
Speaking of that, I had the opportunity to work with Chris, who heads up The Conversion Club, an online marketing and sales school.
He wanted a variety of compelling images that he could use in his marketing content for the Club across all of his social channels and website.
And since his school is jam packed with overwhelming value - workshops, live streams, guest lectures, cheat sheets, slide decks…the whole kit and kaboodle - there was plenty to play with when looking to create a compelling, high-quality image content portfolio.
Here’s a sampling of some of the photos created during my 1-on-1 time with his online school:
Funny enough, it was one of the easiest clients I had to work with that week, especially since the wifi in the WeWork that I shot those photos in played nice the entire time :)
Despite the fact that the subject in front of the camera is a flat screen, the goal for this session is the same as a session with a human being…or a book, for that matter.
Create as much visual variety from shot-to-shot as possible.
Move the subject around the frame - left, right and center.
Capture images from a variety of angles in wide, medium and close-up framing.
By creating such variety, that gives Chris’ design team ample opportunity to produce unique pieces of content with each image in the portfolio.
While they can add a variety of graphics, text, branding, and a CTA directly to the image, they don’t need to spend an inordinate amount of time working to make the photo look interesting and compelling in the first place.
That means they’re able to create high-level content faster.
And that’s the point - giving them something good to work with in the first place.
If you run an online training program and are looking to increase membership, invest in professional photos of your platform to help potential signups see what they can expect the moment they set foot into your online world.
It’ll go a long way to helping them make the decision to become a member.
