Teamwork makes the dream work

Do you work with a team?

Show your audience how you create your magic through visuals.

For the majority of my work with expert business owners, I’m working with lone wolves.

Sure, they may have a team of VA’s and freelancers executing much of the back-end stuff, but they are front and center as the sole face of the brand.

And then, there are times where I work with businesses that have teams of executives, partners and contributors.

When strategizing the comprehensive shot list, these sessions have a lot more moving parts to take into account.

Sure, there is ample overlap with respect to the many types of photos to capture, such as headshots, wider portraits, and other lifestyle portraits, there is one major addition to the mix:

Show the team working together as a team.

It’s important to allow your audience to see how the sausage is made in order for them to easily visualize what working with your organization looks like.

This helps to pique their interest in terms of wanting to learn more about how you go about solving their problem.

For some teams, that means working on a screen. For others, they’re working in the same room.

In the case of a recent collaboration with Skyeteam, I learned that this Executive Coaching team does it all.

Our job was to capture candid visual assets that caught them in the act of doing all these things.

During our strategy call, I found out that the team not only runs their team meetings virtually, but they also conduct team presentations and coaching sessions virtually.

That was first on our list of lifestyle activities to shoot. Here’s what it looked like in photos:

During the strategy call, the team mentioned that they also offer the same coaching and training services in person, as well. And, when they’re in the same city, they also have team meetings under one roof, too.

Once we put the laptops away and closed the Zoom room, it was time to tackle the lifestyle photos of the team working in physical spaces:

While this was a barnburner of a session that included the creation of many more visual assets than what is shown here, the juice, ultimately, was worth the squeeze…

…especially once booze entered into the equation:

But, why can’t we skip all this work and use stock photos?

I often field this question from prospective clients.

The short answer? Stock photos aren’t you!

While you may not care about this fact, it does leave an impression on your audience.

And that impression isn’t always a favorable one.

When you use stock images, there’s no opportunity for them to connect emotionally to these images, and to your team, as the folks in these images don’t exhibit your personalities, working style, or show specifically how you serve your audience.

They’re basically visual placeholders that contribute nothing to positioning you visually as authorities in your space of expertise.

Since you’re in the business of building relationships, it’s important to leverage every opportunity you have to allow your audience an entry point into your business so that it offers them a fly-on-the-wall experience into how your team can help them get past what’s holding them back.

Stock photos rob your audience of that unique opportunity.

Do your team a favor and make the investment in order to allow those who need your help a chance to discover and connect with you online through compelling, revealing and inspiring visual assets.
