The thing that wasn’t a thing is now a thing...
The thing that wasn’t a thing is now a thing.
That’s probably the best way to describe it, :)
It’s funny how you can stare at a photo on your laptop and think, “ah, that’s a cool shot.”
But when you add a branded typeface and place it into a different context, the photo suddenly takes on another life.
I’ve literally stared at tens of thousands of virtual photos created in my apartment over the last few months, so, I’m used to looking at them, needless to say.
But the other day, when my client and trusted colleague, James Taylor, shared with me one of his virtual photos that were part of an article about virtual MC’s in the Wall Street Journal, whoa, that immediately caught my attention.
When staring at how they leveraged the photo, I thought to myself, “oh shit, I can’t believe the thing that wasn’t a thing is now a thing - and I’m partially responsible for this thing becoming a thing!” moments.
This was never the goal, that’s for sure.
Virtual photography has been the backbone of my business and I’m forever grateful to have figured out how to serve my people and be useful during a pandemic that’s torpedoed the in-person speaking industry.
That was the goal.
And I’m psyched that mainstream tabloids like WSJ are shining a light on virtual presentations as it will have a formidable presence even as we all move towards in person meetings and conferences again in the future.
Virtual is here to stay in some shape or form, and I’m happy to be a part of that transformation in my own small way.
Seeing this photo used in this way was a very humbling and exciting moment, and I wanted to share it with you folks, :)
It’s a nice lil’ keepsake to remind me of a year that exactly didn’t play out the way it was drawn up, but we made it work, anyway.

PS - If you’ve moved the majority of your business to virtual, let this article serve as a reminder that it’s essential you show your audience what working with you looks like on a screen.
I’m still keeping my schedule open for virtual sessions this year, but only a handful of slots (4) are left before the camera stays in the bag until January.
If you’d like to put your best foot forward for your 2021 marketing and promotional efforts, set up a time to chat with me to claim one of those few slots left.
