“My life is boring, what am I supposed to post to social?”
“My life is boring, what am I supposed to post to social?”
This statement brings out the tough love in me...
I tell you, this statement is a close second to “I’m not photogenic” in terms of upsetting me anytime I hear one of my clients say this during one of our strategy calls.
I can empathize with someone who sees themselves in this light.
For many years, I saw myself in a very similar way, and know that it’s quite easy to feel insignificant when you have so much information shared with you on a minute-by-minute basis.
But, here’s the deal - this limiting belief you hold about yourself is bullshit, and it triggers my tough love gene in order to combat it...
Yes, I’m talking to YOU, the one who thinks that you have nothing to talk about.
OF COURSE you have stuff to talk about, regardless of how “boring” you think your life is.
First of all, you’re a business owner, right? You speak? Write books? Coach people to get past their limiting beliefs?
Yeah, there’s TONS of stuff to talk about right there, and you don’t even have to break a sweat yet.
Work with clients? Who are they? What are their pain points? How do you solve them…
BOOM - some more for you to post to social!
How were you inspired to follow the path that you’re currently on? Book you read? Mentor who showed you the way? Personal experience led to a shift in your life?
TALK ABOUT IT ALL!
How about your spare time - how do you spend it? Something unique and fun?
There you go - more stories to share!
And your family? Kids? Pets?
More potential posts from all that stuff.
Shall I continue, or do you get the point?
The reality is that you can share stories as an expert in your field, as an entrepreneur, and as a human being living and breathing on this Earth.
The key is for you to craft these informative, entertaining and inspiring stories in a way that directly relates to your audience. You want to keep their interest, while teaching them a lesson that simultaneously gains their trust in you as the authority in your field of expertise
The challenge here is that you first need to OWN your expertise, OWN your business and OWN your belief in yourself.
Believe in the fact that you are living your purpose, that the relationships in your life matter, and that the work you do gets people past their hurdles so they can show up in the world the way they want.
Last time I checked, there’s nothing boring about any of that shit, :)
I talk a lot about how to draw content creation ideas from all aspects of your life during my one-on-one, idea generation program.
It’s called the Idea Nugget Incubator program.
In addition to talking about pulling interesting idea nuggets from all walks of your life, I also share important strategy on how to select the best images that visually punctuate these stories for your audience.

PS - For those of you who aren’t in the know, I mail out these blogs 3x a week, and lemme tell you, they’re a real party, so, if you’d like to get in on this, sign up for it here and I’ll throw in a free gift for you, because I care, :)
