How is the sausage made during a book boudoir session?
I constantly remind my clients that we need to capture candid photos that show their audience how the sausage is made.
As a result, I decided to do the same thing with my book boudoir sessions.
A couple months ago, I received a message from Joe Mull informing me that he was launching a new book, Employalty, and would need to schedule a book boudoir session for it.
Since I’m a big fan of his, professionally and personally, I was pretty excited to create magic with him again.
When I received word that the books were being shipped my way, I was in the middle of scheduling content, and, as I looked through the gigantic portfolio of images of myself that I use for posts and article thumbnails, I realized there was a hole in my portfolio…
I had ZERO photos that captured what a book boudoir session looked like.
Well, that’s not good - especially considering that I’m the FIRST one to point out to a client how you need to show them what your process looks like through visual assets.
Ugh - now I’m a hypocrite! I know…terrible.
Well, that not-so-magical sentiment inspired me to put two and two together, so I immediately reached out to a photographer friend, Sam Popp, and hired her to snap some candid shots of the session.
Quite frankly, I was curious to see what this process looks like…
So, once she arrived at my apartment, I cracked open the box that contained 5 copies of Joe’s book and we immediately went to work.
The photos included show the process, along with what the delivered photos to Joe looked like.
I have to say, I was impressed with what Sam was able to capture.
The experience put me in the shoes of my own clients, and, while it was a bit weird having someone tail me throughout my apartment with a camera in her hand, I am grateful for the opportunity as I now can share with you what this process looks like…
All in all, it was magical…
…and I’m REALLY glad that I tidied up the place before she showed up :)
