Speak LouDly through book photos

What separates your book from others in your space?

Show it through book boudoir photos.

Months ago, I was chatting with my colleague, Lou Diamond.

He gave me the skinny on his new book, Speak Easy - a book that educates readers on how to create meaningful connections through conversation.

While the subject matter on its own is important not just for business owners, but everyone, to understand, the way in which he structured the book was really interesting, as well.

Contextually, Speak Easy, has a double meaning.

At first glance, the literal opportunity for readers to learn how to speak easy is directly implied by the title.

But also, Lou was referencing the Prohibition-era speakeasies that popped up across the US in the 1920’s.

And the latter is a centralized theme that is sprinkled throughout the book, including certain chapter titles and section headers.

In addition, he created a final chapter titled, the Speak Easy Secret Menu, a section full of communication recipes that are comprised of specific ingredients that were discussed throughout the book.

These drinks were assembled to educate readers on how to have the tough, complex conversations that many people tend to avoid altogether.

During our #bookboudoir strategy call, I told him that this interesting play on words and central theme throughout the book would be highlighted in the visual assets created, as it’s a really unique and fun way to teach people how to have more effective conversations.

While the insights and strategies shared are valuable in their own right, the packaging of these concepts in this way truly separates his book from the scores of other titles that speak on the same topic.

When you’re in the business of selling books, any way that you can create distinction from other authors needs to be explored, and some of that exploration needs to involve the visual assets you leverage during the book launch process.

In addition to the standard cover and spine photos, I now had a game plan with regard to photographing the inside of the book.

Here’s some of the magic that was captured:

By capturing images that help support the speak easy, play on words theme, that offers Lou’s marketing team to play up this concept in the stories within the captions they share online.

It provides them an opportunity to share unique and fun storytelling with purpose.

Ultimately, that’s a great way to help the book stand out and be noticed, specifically by those who would greatly benefit from reading the book, and putting the concepts shared into action throughout their day-to-day lives.

Keep this in mind when preparing the marketing materials for your next book launch.

Do you have a unique theme that helps to flesh out the key concepts in the title? Are you also leveraging a unique play on words?

If so, be sure that your photographer captures this theme throughout the image portfolio in order to offer your marketing team a chance to create fun and unique content that separates the book from the others in your space.

Don’t have a photographer in mind to capture these photos?
