I've conducted the vast majority of my branding sessions in co-working spaces, both locally and across the country – and for good reason. Co-working spaces offer a professional yet versatile environment, and hey, the free coffee doesn’t hurt. Here’s how to get the most out of them.

1. Maximize Access
   Before you book the space, be clear that you’d like to shoot in all areas, minus the private offices, but assure them you'll be respectful of other members working. The more areas you have access to, the more opportunities for unique imagery.

2. Home Base: Conference Room
   Rent a conference room that can double as a home base and shooting space. Unpack your clothes neatly to keep the space tidy for when you need to shoot in there. Take full advantage of the room’s table, décor, and any equipment like whiteboards or screens for slides.

3. Explore Common Areas
   Identify all common areas – they offer different environments where you can stand, sit, work, and think. Ideally, each spot feels unique enough to give you different backgrounds, adding variety to your photos.

4. Find Low-Traffic Hallways
   These are great for capturing reflective moments and portraits. Leaning against walls or standing shots in quiet hallways give visual contrast from the typical sitting-at-the-desk shots.

5. Claim Your Spots
   If you see an area you like, but it’s busy, claim it! Toss your laptop or bag there to hold it for when you're ready to shoot. When the spot is free, you’ll be able to move in quickly and maximize your time.

One last thing: Change outfits as you move from one spot to another. This small trick will give you a range of looks and add variety to your overall portfolio.

For you photographers - do your research before you step into the space – look online at pictures or take a virtual tour to get a sense of the place. Arrive early, survey the playspace with your shot sheet in hand, and start visualizing how to get the most dynamic visuals possible.
