The 100-yard dash of portrait sessions...
For some experts, the idea of conducting a valuable portrait session in 60-minutes is an impossible mission.
How can we create necessary visual assets in that short amount of time?
Be strategic, prepared, and move with a sense of urgency from the first minute on.
Recently, I conducted a portrait day for several NSANYC chapter members.
The goal of these short, but impactful sessions, was to focus entirely on creating photos that can immediately be implemented into various areas of their online presence.
We’re talking headshots, wider direct address portraits, as well as a small splash of lifestyle photos.
These specific images can be directly plugged into the speaker’s websites, social media profile images, media kits/one-sheets, and have some leftovers for blog article thumbnails and social posts.
Before each session, we conducted a short strategy call to go over the specific photos, what they need to wear for each scenario, and what types of additional props and other materials are necessary to pack in their bags.
I also reminded them that, unlike a typical half-day session, which is more of a half-marathon, the hour session is a 100-yard dash, and they need to be prepared to move with a fire under their asses.
They came into the session already dressed in their first outfit, had their makeup and hair ready, and were ready to dive in immediately.
Despite the challenge of fitting in a chunk of work in a short amount of time, magic, nonetheless, was created.
As a result, the juice, ultimately, is worth the squeeze :)
It’s so worth it that I’m thinking about offering another Portrait Day of four, 60-minute sessions, again.
