Don't let your photos speak for themselves
Pretty photos have a lot to say for themselves…
But, don’t let them run off at the mouth on their own.
A picture is worth a thousand words, but don’t let it speak on it’s own behalf.
When you simply post a photo that has no story in the caption, you’re leaving out the most important part of the post.
The context for the viewer to understand how this post and image specifically relates to them.
Are you teaching them a valuable lesson? Giving them a sense of who you are as a person and what motivates you to do what you do? A cautionary tale? A burst of inspiration?
When you let a photo sit on your feed without a purposeful story connected to it, you’re making a big ass assumption that your audience will be able to figure out your intention behind that post.
And you already know what happens when you assume, right?
Don’t leave it up to chance - or the possibility that the message will get lost.
People’s attention spans are short and dodgy already. If you’ve captured their attention with the image, that’s half the battle.
The other half is to maintain it through a persuasive story that helps them further understand who you are, who you serve, how you serve and why you do what you do.
And how this relates to you solving their points of friction in their own lives.
And what you want them to do after consuming the post. Sign up for your newsletter? Buy your book? Sign up for your webinar?
You’re in the business of building relationships, and sharing your expertise, experience and frameworks through your online content is an opportunity to start that conversation.
It gives your audience the chance to qualify you before they go down the rabbit hole of deciding whether or not you’re the person they trust enough to hire to help them get past what’s holding them back.
Be purposeful with every photo that you share with your audience so that you’re able to give yourself the chance to attract more people under your tent.
It’s magical when you do, after all, :)
