Small victories lead to game-changing results
For months, I’ve been looking for a lighting bag solution to my problem of having to carry all that shit in a duffel bag.
It’s tiring to walk through airports, resorts, conference centers, hotels, co-working spaces and people’s homes with 20+ pounds of oddly shaped gear in one hand, while I have a ton of camera equipment, chargers and my laptop stuff strapped to my back.
Even though I’m older and don’t need a walker, I do need some wheels to help out the cause.
The challenge has been to find a bag big enough that can hold all the different pieces, while also being small enough to be carried onto a plane.
First, I started with researching the regular travel bags.
No dice - they were either too big or too small. The monkeywrench in the whole process has been the length of the damn light stand.
However, while at B&H, I was given great guidance by the folks there and found a Think Tank bag that could potentially work.
On the way home, I brainstormed possible configurations of how to squeeze the light, modifier, ring, spare battery, battery charger, triggers, my handy dandy knee pad…
…and most importantly, a few pairs of socks and shirts into this thing without it bursting at the seams.
Fortunately, with a lil extra zhuzh when closing the zippers, everything actually closes!
And now, after several frustrating months of hitting dead ends, I finally got some wheels 😊
Finding the right lighting bag might seem like a small victory, but it's a game-changer. The smallest improvements can make a huge difference in the grand scheme.
