Dating app photo switcheroo...

When it comes to reminding yourself of the importance of honest and compelling professional photos…

…look no further than the modern dynamics of online dating.

As a single guy, I’m no stranger to dating apps…

…for better or worse :)

While there are novels that can be written based on the experiences I’ve encountered on these apps over the years, I’ll spare you the tragic details and focus on a conversation I had recently with a client about it.

While discussing her upcoming lifestyle portrait session, she mentioned that she would like to use some of the photos we create for her dating app profile.

Now, this is nothing new.

On many occasions, past clients have used some of their professional photos for their personal lives.

Her reasoning behind it, was simple:

“I hate when I come across men that post photos that look nothing like them today, so I don’t want to do the same thing.”

when it comes to online dating, there’s nothing more frustrating than showing up for a date where the person looks completely different than the one in the photos.

You feel hoodwinked, lied to, and long story short, your time has been wasted, not only because there was a bait and switch operation afoot, but also because the trust factor between you and that person has been greatly affected.

If they’re lying about how they look, what else are they lying about, right?

It’s just a crappy situation, overall.

The same thing can be said about the way you present yourself to your audience in your professional photos online.

Much like when you’re qualifying potential dating partners, your audience is looking for reasons to learn more about you or disregard you entirely.

And they make these decisions instantly.

While your photos are one piece of the puzzle with regard to how you connect with your audience, they are the most visible.

And they make an immediate impression.

If you’re sharing photos of yourself from 3 Presidential administrations ago, that could lead to some problems with people taking you seriously.

You could be the most amazing human being on the planet - kind, knowledgeable, empathetic, motivating and inspiring…

…but, if you put any hint of doubt in the minds of those that need you most, they will simply move on.

When it comes to reminding yourself of the importance of honest and compelling professional photos, look no further than the modern dynamics of online dating. .

This will go a long way for you not getting SWIPED LEFT by those you serve.

Over to you…
