A testament to the power of visuals
Not sure how investing in high-quality photos will help your expert-based business?
The following story is a testament to the power of visuals.
The other day, I caught up with a speaker colleague that I photographed several months earlier.
He happened to be at an event that I was covering, and when he spoke on stage, I captured a variety of images from various points throughout the room.
Once he saw the collection of shots, he immediately chose two images from the pile and inserted them onto his website homepage.
One image became his top of the fold, banner image, and the other was incorporated somewhere in the middle of the page.
For him, it was an unexpected bonus for his effort in working the event. And I was happy to help.
Fast-forward back to our conversation, and he mentioned an interesting tidbit about those two photos.
Days after he updated his site with his two photos, he started receiving compliments on his website and how the sitewide redesign helped make it read and look much better.
His response? What sitewide redesign?
It was the same layout. The same copy. The same user experience. The same everything…
…except for those two pictures!
I told him that that’s the power of updating your visuals. It changes the perception that people have of you based on how those images position you.
This is why expert business owners need to invest in high-quality and compelling image content portfolios.
It’s not simply a nice-to-have…these images carry weight in the minds of those who are determining whether you are the right solution to their problems.
They help shape the perception of your value in their minds.
And when they’re leveraged with purpose and intention, can create a positive impact in your business and brand online.
The next time you think to yourself that you can simply get away with stock photos, keep this story handy in the back of your mind to remind yourself that there is actually a better way to do it.
