AI taking over...

I see this new AI app that creates art out of people’s faces on feeds everywhere online…

Genuine question - what’s the point?

About 3 minutes before I sat down to write an article, I quickly jumped onto social to check something in my Facebook DM’s. 

Before I could get to said DM’s, I had to click out of my feed.

In the process, I came across another swath of connections posting their curated collection of AI-created portraits. 

I’ve noticed quite an uptick in folks who have downloaded the app and shared the creations it’s made on their behalf.

I’m starting to feel like the only person who doesn’t get it - NOT in a judgemental, condensing kind of way, mind you. 

In fact, out of all the fads that have populated social media feeds in the past few years, this one, at least, produces some cool works of art. 

But legitimately, what is the point of these images? 

Is it shiny new object-related? 

Is it that all the cool kids are doing it, so I want to do it, too?

Or, is it the fact that the work is really beautiful and it strikes a tech nerd cord in all of those who use it?

I’m genuinely curious and would love to hear from folks who’ve participated in it to get some insights into what draws you in.
