Kill two birds with one stone when you can.
One of the more popular lifestyle scenarios captured during an experts’ branded lifestyle portrait sessions is facilitating a training session.
First, they’ll start to write on the whiteboard or set up their slide deck. Then, they’ll turn to the boardroom table and begin to deliver their magical words of transformation…
…to no one else in the room but me.
While faking it in this way might sound strange, I’ve re-created this scenario dozens of times with clients. And, based on their body language and facial expression, they give a real sense of what it’s like to be in the room, learning from them.
These photos are GOOD representations of what it’s like to learn from them in this way…
…but photos taken during an ACTUAL meeting, especially if they’re captured on the same day as their portrait session, are even BETTER.
This unique opportunity presented itself recently during a session with Gerry O’Brion.
He was in NYC for a small group session and had me tag along for the last hour, so that’s where the day started. Afterwards, we cabbed uptown to the co-working space for our portrait session.
Since we were able to get photos of him during an actual training, that allowed us to focus his portrait session on shooting other types of visual assets that he can use on his website, on linkedin, and other marketing and promotional needs.
The bulk of the effort was spent towards refreshing his promotional images - headshots and wider, direct address portraits.
Based on his answers during the strategy call, we also added in some virtual photos and speaking to the camera shots.
End of the day, magical visual variety was created :)
When you have an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone like Gerri did, take the chance to do so.
It’ll greatly increase your return on the time and money investment you make in it.
