Contrived authenticity is not such a bad thing
…especially when it comes to your lifestyle portraits.
Before I continue, yes, I know “contrived authenticity” is an oxymoron.
But, it’s a purposeful one as it succinctly explains the philosophy behind candid, branded lifestyle portraits.
While yes, most portrait sessions are staged events, the way in which the photos are captured represent the way you look, act and feel when the camera is NOT around.
These photos are captured from a fly-on-the-wall vantage point so that it gives their audiences viewing them the chance to preview the experience of what working with them looks like.
This is a very persuasive approach to getting people’s attention and for many, it inspires them to stop the scroll, click on the post, read it and follow through on the call to action.
