Prep for '24: Does your profile picture pass muster?
As 2024 approaches, it's more crucial than ever for experts who speak, write, train, coach, and consult to ensure their visual storytelling is on point.
And that begins by evaluating their first impression – the profile picture.
This singular image can make or break a connection.
But how do you determine if it's time for an update? Here are three essential questions to consider:
1 - Is The Photo Technically A Good Option?
Does your face fill the avatar space on each platform it’s placed, or does it show up as a tiny little spec that makes it difficult for viewers to see?
The primary goal of this photo is that you offer viewers to connect with your eyes so they can form an initial opinion of whether to jump in and learn more about you, or click off your profile and move on.
When you don’t give them that chance, it can immediately inspire them to move on.
Not good, folks.
2 - Does It Evoke Trust and Approachability?
Potential clients, partners, members and subscribers gauge a lot from a single image.
Does your photo radiate confidence and warmth? Are you approachable, or do you seem aloof?
Remember, people gravitate towards those they feel they can trust to help them get past what’s holding them back.
3 - Does It Reflect Your Current Brand and Expertise?
Your profile picture should be in line with who you are now, not who you were a year or two ago…
Or 10 years ago, for some.
Have you updated your hairstyle? Maybe you’ve grown a beard or changed your glasses?
More importantly, if you’ve ascended in your profession, does your image scream authority, or does it simply whisper it to your audience?
Taking a step back and assessing your profile picture with these questions can provide clarity on its effectiveness and put your best foot forward in preparing to have a successful 2024.
Remember, it's often the small details that can have the most significant impact.
Make sure your first impression is the right one.
