Expectations around delivery
I've heard too many clients tell me that they've waited weeks, if not months, for their branding and live event photos to be delivered.
The excuse most often heard is that the photographers are slammed with other clients and it takes time to post-process.
Translation - they either have no idea how to time manage, have systems in place to facilitate a faster turn-around, or quite frankly, they’re lazy.
Either way, they’re dropping the ball on providing a premium experience for you. And, this process needs to change. It starts with you and your expectation levels.
During the inquiry process, aside from looking for a fit in terms of their aesthetic shooting style, approach to directing subjects, and overall rapport with you, ask them about their turnaround time.
Make sure that it is aligned with your team’s timetable to implement these images into the projects they’re currently working on or about to work on.
If they cannot give you a firm, or at least a short window, for guaranteed delivery time, then they are simply not a fit for you.
Not being able to give you concrete numbers is a clear lack of confidence, and the last thing you want is a photographer who is not fully confident in EVERY aspect of the experience they provide, especially if they charge premium rates.
Getting clear expectations around delivery is crucial. This will ensure a smoother, more professional experience, ultimately allowing you to make the most out of your visual assets in a timely manner.
By doing your due diligence before the session, you can avoid the misfortune of aging out of or looking different than the photos you just invested in before you actually get to use them.
Have you experienced delays in receiving your photos? How long did it take?
